OGUN LAWMAKERS SEEK INTERVENTION IN EDUCATION, FACILITATE DONATION OF FURNITURE TO SCHOOLS

Since education has been said to be the bedrock of development of any nation, there was need for public spirited individuals, philanthropists and other non-governmental organizations to contribute their quota to the educational needs of the people at all levels, to create a better society.
Lawmakers representing Abeokuta South II State Constituency, Hon Adeyemi Ademuyiwa and his Abeokuta South I counterpart, Yusuf Adejojo, made the remarks during the donation of school furniture to Abeokuta South Local Government School, Ijemo and St John’s School II, Kuto by the Egba Solidarity Association of Philadelphia, USA,  led by Barr. Kehinde Somoye.
The lawmakers stated that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government required such intervention and support from all stakeholders in the society, to further complement its efforts  at ensuring efficient performance in the education sector.
In his remark, the Executive Secretary in the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr. Olalekan Kuye, lauded the donor for channelling resources in support of the State primary education, challenging other foundations in the State, as well as in diaspora to contribute their quota towards development of education in the State.
Speaking, President of the Association, Barr. Somoye expressed delight at the plans and programmes of the State Government towards ensuring improved quality in education for all, saying that the State lawmakers alongside some stakeholders had also impacted positively in the sector.
Stressing the importance of infrastructure to education sector, he said the donation became imperative, as the Association amongst other foundations abroad had decided to provide intervention projects to schools in Egbaland, with a view to providing more conducive learning environment for pupils, tasking the pupils to stay focused and determined in the quest of aspiring for a greater future.
Responding, the Head teacher of the school, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Adeniran commended the Association for its kind gesture, saying that the donation would complement Government’s efforts at repositioning education in the State.
