The Association of Ex-Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ASELGON) under the leadership of Hon. Albert Asipa has commended Rivers State Governor, Barrister Nyesom Wike for providing succour to the entire people of his state to cushion the effect of the lockdown occasioned by the COVID 19 pandemic.
The group noted with satisfaction, the unveiling new buses by the governor on Thursday, to convey people within the state free of charge.
This, according to the former council administrators, was a testimony that Governor Wike always put the interest of his people uppermost in his heart.
ASELGON urged Governor Wike's critics to pay a visit to Rivers State for an on-the-spot assessment of his people-oriented projects which dot the entire landscape.
The association, however, advised the governor not to relent on his efforts to provide basic amenities to his people as this would continue to linger on after leaving office as governor.
The group noted with pride that Governor Wike as a former local government chairman in the state had brought his experience at the grassroots level to bear in state governance. "
In another development, ASELGON has sent a condolence message to the governor on the demise of Hon. Odian Princewill, who until his death was the chairman of Asari Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Describing the death of Hon. Princewill as a great loss, not only to Rivers State governor and the deceased's immediate family, but to ALGON generally, the association prayed that God Almighty gave the family the strength to bear the painful and irreparable loss.
