The Governor of Edo State ,Godwin Obaseki; his deputy, Philip Shaibu; and a former governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, on Wednesday paid their last respect to a former Commissioner for Education Science and Technology in Ogun State, Segun Odubela, who was buried in his home town, Ikenne.

Odubela’s remains were interred after a funeral service, which was attended by his friends, colleagues and associates.

Odubela, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, died of COVID-19 complications at the age of 55.

He was a commissioner during the first term of Amosun.

In his sermon, the Archbishop of the RIYE Methodist Church Nigeria, Most Rev. Atanda Adewale, reminded the congregation of the inevitability of death.

He eulogised Odubela for being righteous and friendly while alive.

He advised everyone to prepare for death, saying, “No one can escape when the time comes.”

In his tribute, Obaseki said, “Late Odubela was exceptional in his conduct.”

Amosun said Odubela gave his all when he served as commissioner and eulogised him for being patriotic.

Personalities present at the burial included Amosun’s cabinet members and legal luminaries.
